Monaco's Wilfried Sandoz, the club's midfielder, has been injured and will be out for at least two weeks.

Sandoz sustained a knee injury in training on Tuesday and is set to undergo surgery in the coming days. He was due to miss Saturday's Ligue 1 match against Nice but the club have confirmed that he will not play again this season.

The news comes as a blow to Monaco, who were hoping to continue their strong run of form with Sandoz back in action. The midfielders' versatility means he can fill in at several positions, including central defence,La Liga Stadium so his absence will be felt.

However, the team will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void left by Sandoz's absence. Captain Benjamin Mendy has stepped up in recent games and will likely be called upon once more, while others like Florian Thauvin and Yannick Carrasco could also see increased playing time.

It remains to be seen how long Sandoz will be out for and what impact his absence will have on Monaco's season. However, it is clear that they will need to find ways to cope without him in the short term.
